Heavy Rig Event
The Heavy Rig Event makes Oil Rig a much bigger challenge with extra hackable crates, Heavy Scientist waves, and random attack events.
This event happens on Small Oil Rig and Large Oil Rig. Keep in mind that Oil Rig is still a PvP zone, so other players can show up, counter you, and fight for the loot while the event is running.
Heavy Rig is high risk, high reward. If you start it, be ready for scientists, rockets, helicopters, Bradley, and players all at the same time.
How to Start Heavy Rig
To start the event, you need a Wave Card in your inventory.
Once you are on Small Oil Rig or Large Oil Rig, find the special Heavy Rig button and press it before hacking the main crate.
This part is important:
You must press the Heavy Rig button before starting the main crate hack.
Once the main crate has already been started, you cannot activate Heavy Rig for that run.
Wave Card Difficulties
There are three types of Wave Cards:
Normal Wave Card
Starts the Normal version of Heavy Rig.
Hard Wave Card
Starts the Hard version of Heavy Rig.
Extreme Wave Card
Starts the Extreme version of Heavy Rig.
Each difficulty adds more enemies, more danger, and better reward chances.
Normal Mode
Normal Mode is the first level of Heavy Rig.
On Large Oil Rig, Normal Mode adds:
4 extra hackable crates
55 Heavy Scientists
A chance to find a Hard Mode Wave Card in an extra crate
On Small Oil Rig, Normal Mode adds:
2 extra hackable crates
18 Heavy Scientists
A chance to find a Hard Mode Wave Card in an extra crate
Normal Mode is the best place to start if you want to try Heavy Rig without jumping straight into the hardest version.
Hard Mode
Hard Mode includes everything from Normal Mode, but adds extra attacks while the main crate is being hacked.
Hard Mode adds:
Everything from Normal Mode
3 extra attack events during the crate hack
A chance to find an Extreme Mode Wave Card in an extra crate
This is where the event starts getting a lot more serious. Your team will need to defend the rig while dealing with extra threats and possible counters from other players.
Extreme Mode
Extreme Mode is the hardest version of Heavy Rig.
Extreme Mode adds:
Everything from Hard Mode
2 more hackable crates
5 attack events during the crate hack
More chaos from helicopters, rockets, Bradley, radiation, and other threats
Extreme Mode is not something you should start lightly. Bring strong gear, extra ammo, meds, and teammates you trust.
Possible Attack Events
During Hard Mode and Extreme Mode, extra attack events can happen while the crate is hacking.
These may include:
CH47 drop with Heavy Scientists
Patrol Helicopter attack
Radiation attack
MLRS rocket barrage
Bradley APC spawning on the helipad
These attacks can stack up fast, especially if other players show up at the same time.
How to Get Wave Cards
Wave Cards can be obtained through Outpost vending machines, server events, or other server reward sources.
Available cards:
Normal Wave Card β starts Normal Mode
Hard Wave Card β starts Hard Mode
Extreme Wave Card β starts Extreme Mode
Higher-tier cards may also be found from Heavy Rig reward crates, depending on the difficulty and server setup.
Before You Start
Make sure your team is ready before pressing the button.
We recommend bringing:
Good armor
Strong weapons
Extra ammo
Plenty of meds
Food and water
Radiation protection
Backup gear if possible
Also remember that Oil Rig is a PvP zone. Other players can counter the event, so do not bring anything you are not ready to lose.
